Terms of use
Terms of use
Version 1.0 · 2026-09-07
These terms govern the use of Snitch. Using the scanner means accepting them. They are written to be read, not to be survived.
1. What Snitch does
Snitch loads a public web page in an automated browser, records the requests that page makes and the cookies it sets, and reports them. It performs the same actions a visitor's browser performs. It does not attempt to bypass authentication, defeat any access control, or reach anything that is not publicly served.
2. You must be entitled to scan the address you submit
You warrant that you own the domain you submit, operate it, or have permission from whoever does. Do not submit a domain you have no relationship with. Snitch is a tool for checking your own site, not for building a case against somebody else's.
Public web pages are served to anyone who requests them, and courts in the United States have held that retrieving a publicly available page is not unauthorised access. That is not a licence to point automated tooling at a stranger. If you breach this clause, the responsibility is yours and we may refuse service.
3. The full report adds an item to a cart
To reach a checkout page, a paid scan of a store adds one item to a cart, in the same way a shopper would. No order is placed and no contact details are entered, so no order and no abandoned-checkout record is created. If you do not want this, the free homepage scan does not do it. See the scanning policy for exactly what a scan does and does not touch.
4. Rate and volume
Free scans are rate limited per address. Do not attempt to defeat that limit, script the scanner, or run it at a volume that would burden the site being scanned or this one.
5. This is not legal advice
Snitch reports what one browser observed on one date. It is evidence. It is not a legal opinion, it does not establish compliance with any law, and it does not create a lawyer-client relationship. Severity labels reflect how often a technology appears in filed complaints, not a ruling about your site. Decisions with legal consequences should be taken with a lawyer.
6. Accuracy, and what a clean result does not mean
The tracker list is curated and incomplete. Hosts we cannot identify are reported as unrecognised and excluded from counts and from the verdict, so a scan understates rather than overstates. A result of Clean means nothing non-essential was observed on the pages checked, in the seconds observed, on that date. It is not a certificate and must not be presented as one.
7. No warranty, and what we are liable for
The service is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including regulatory penalties or litigation costs.
8. Paid scans and refunds
A paid report is delivered once. If the scan fails, returns a result we cannot stand behind, or you are simply not satisfied with it, tell us and we will refund it. The marginal cost of a scan is fractions of a cent, so there is no reason for us to argue about this.
9. Changes
These terms may change. The version and date are at the top. Continuing to use the service after a change accepts it.
10. Contact
